Two arrested on charges of felon in possession of firearms

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

The Charleston Department of Public Safety responded to a tip that two armed males were in the parking lot of Top Notch Liquors at about midnight on Sunday, Nov. 15.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw the two subjects matched the description given.

The officers approached the subjects and performed pat down searches out of safety concerns.

Handguns were located on both of the subjects.

Ervin Boyce, 37, of Sikeston and Fonta McKeller, 36, of Charleston were both arrested.

Officers discovered that Boyce is on federal probation for distribution of a controlled substance.

The gun he was carrying had also been reported stolen.

He faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and possession of synthetic marijuana.

Officers discovered that McKeller is a convicted felon. He faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Both men are currently in the Mississippi County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
