DORENA, MO (KFVS) -

The son of two people who were found dead in the Mississippi River has been charged with their murders.

Thomas Wayne McRoy is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. His bond is set at $200,000 cash only.

He was arrested in Carter County on Tuesday. McRoy was being held at the Scott County Jail.

Authorities say the body of a man found in the Mississippi River Tuesday in Mississippi County is connected to a homicide investigation in Miner, Mo.

The body was found in Dorena, Missouri.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says they pulled the body from the ferry dock after getting a call from a ferry passenger.

He said it appears the body of a man may have been in the river since Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Moore says the man was in his late 40s, was wearing camouflage sweatpants, a blue sweatshirt, and bluish socks.

The man did have an iPhone. Authorities are trying to use it to identify him by putting the SIM card in another phone.

Moore says he's checking with hunters and campers in the area.

Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker has taken the body away from the scene for an autopsy.

According to Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs, a woman's body was found on Wednesday morning and a suspect is in custody in connection with the investigation.

Their identities have not been released.
