Authorities say a woman kidnapped from her Poplar Bluff home was found safe Monday afternoon.

Poplar Bluff Deputy Police Chief Jeff Rolland says a 33-year-old woman was reported missing around 9 a.m. when her children realized she wasn't home.

The woman usually wakes up her 9-year-old and 11-year-old for school, but they found her bed empty.

Officers were dispatched to the home in the 600 block of Cleveland St.

Once police arrived, they issued an "Endangered Person Advisory" due to the condition of the crime scene.

Poplar Bluff police activated the Major Case Squad and also reached out to the FBI.

The woman was found around four hours later with Doyle Turner in a shed behind a home in the 100 block of West Harper Street.

Police believe she was kidnapped by her estranged husband, 44-year-old Doyle Turner.

Police say the couple has a violent history.

The woman did receive some minor injuries during the course of her abduction and authorities say she's being treated at a local hospital as a precaution.

Doyle Turner was taken into custody and booked into the Butler County Jail.

Deputy Chief Rolland said they are seeking the following charges against Turner: first degree burglary, kidnapping, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, armed criminal action, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an illegal weapon (a short barrel shotgun).

His bond was set at $500,000 and his arraignment was set for Thursday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 19 Turner waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty.

He was back in court on Monday, Nov. 23 and was formally arraigned. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Butler County Courthouse.
