ISP: Semi crashed on IL Rte. 13 after driver fell asleep at wheel

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Illinois State Police say three lanes of Illinois Route 13 westbound were closed for about two hours after a semi truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed.

According to police, 62-year-old Egip Behluli, of Willowbrook, Ill., was driving a 2003 Volvo semi pulling a box trailer southbound on the Interstate 57 exit ramp to Illinois Route 13 westbound.

As the semi entered Rte. 13, police say it continued south across four lanes of the Rte. 13 westbound traffic and came to a rest against the center concrete median barrier.

Police say the driver told them he fell asleep before the crash.

There were no injuries and police say three lanes of Rte. 13 westbound were closed for about 2 hours during the crash investigation.
