Suspect arrested in connection to bomb threat on Calloway Co. school

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

One person has been arrested in connection to a bomb threat made to a Calloway County school on Tuesday.

A Calloway County Middle School employee received an anonymous phone call at approximately 10:19 a.m. on Tuesday, saying that a bomb was in the building.

The students were evacuated and the police and emergency personnel were called to the scene.

After a search of the building, the students re-entered the building at approximately noon.

No evidence of any explosive devices was found.

A student has been charged with terroristic threatening in the first degree.

A person is guilty of terroristic threatening in the first degree when he or she "intentionally makes false statements that he or she or another person has placed a weapon of mass destruction on any public or private school property."

The Calloway County Schools and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the Kentucky State Police, the Calloway County Fire and Rescue, Calloway County EMS, Murray City police and Murray State University Public Safety for their quick response in assisting with the situation.
