Phone number change causes confusion in effort to help bring holiday cheer to foster children

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Every year the Angel Tree project in Scott and Mississippi Counties goes to help local children in foster care get presents for Christmas.

According to the head of the Foster Parent Association of Scott and Mississippi Counties, 200 letters were sent out to members of the community recently

with an incorrect phone number on how the case workers could be reached to find out more about the Angel Tree program.

JoAnn McCauley with the Foster Parent Association wants everyone to know that the new number is (573) 472-5826.

She says there are currently 163 children in the foster system in those two southeast Missouri counties, and says the number is likely to grow before Christmas.

She says the children rely on the Angel Tree program for their gifts for Christmas.

The deadline is coming up soon, so McCauley hopes by getting the word out these children will not go without this holiday season.
