MISSOURI (KFVS) -

The Missouri Department of Conservation has released an app that allows hunters to tag and log deer, turkey and other game - all at the press of a button.

The "MO Hunting" app is available for free through Google Play and iTunes stores.

According to the Missouri Conservation, there will be more deer this season.

MO Hunting enables Missouri hunters, anglers, and trappers to purchase and view annual hunting, fishing, and trapping permits, as well as view permits bought during the previous year.

The app also allows deer and turkey hunters to telecheck their harvests directly from their related permit inside the application, through an easy-to-use fillable form.

The app also allows hunters to view all deer and turkey they have previously telechecked.

The Wildlife Code of Missouri requires hunters, anglers, and trappers to carry either a signed hard copy or an electronically signed digital copy of the prescribed permit with them while actively engaged in hunting, fishing, or trapping.

The signed paper or digital copy of the permit should then be exhibited to any officer charged with the enforcement of this Code upon request, or to any transportation company or postal employee when presenting wildlife for shipment.

After harvesting a deer or turkey it is still necessary to immediately notch the month and date of harvest on your permit, which you can now do within the MO Hunting application.

You must telecheck your harvest by 10 p.m. on the day of harvest, and record the Telecheck confirmation number on your voided permit.

To log into MO Hunting, users will need their Conservation Number, a nine-digit number found on the back of their Heritage Card next to the bar code.

This number is different from the 16-digit number on the front of the card.

Conservation Numbers can also be found on any current or previous permit.

For help locating a Conservation Number, call MDC at (573) 751-4115 during regular business hours and ask for the Permits office, or click here.
