Carbondale PD partners with SIU athletic dept. for kids coat drive

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Carbondale Police Department partnered with the Athletics Department at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this holiday season to collect new coats for boys and girls, ages 1-11.

The coats will benefit children served by the Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store.

New coats will be collected at two men's and one women's basketball game in November.

The first game is November 15 at 3 p.m., the second is November 25 at 6 p.m. and the third is December 2 at 7 p.m.

The Christmas store is an annual event that provides toys and gifts at reduced costs to the families of 100 children from at-risk or under-privileged families living in Carbondale.

The hope this year is to provide each of the kids with a warm coat.

You can also drop off coats at the Carbondale Police Department and the SIU Athletic Academic Offices.
