Newly crowned Little Miss Illinois State to compete national pageant

HERRIN, IL (KFVS) -

Little Miss Illinois State was crowned in August and the winner was Grayce Monteith, the 5-year-old daughter of Jason and Jenny Monteith of Herrin.

Grayce was chosen as the Candidate-At-Large winner from more than 950 children across the state of Illinois.

The newly crowned Little Miss Illinois will compete in the Baby Miss America National Pageant on Thanksgiving weekend in Houston, Texas.

The pageant is a 100 percent natural competition meaning no make-up, no hair pieces, no fake teeth, and no spray tanning.

Unlike other children's pageants, there is no modeling or talent involved.

Children range in age from three months to six years old.
