JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KFVS) -

Thirty-five people are winners of the 2015 Lieutenant Governor's Veterans Service Award, three of them from southeast Missouri.

Lt. Governor Peter Kinder started the award in 2012 that recognizes Missouri veterans who provide exemplary volunteer service to their communities.

Winners received an official declaration from Kinder and will be recognized later this year at a banquet in their honor at the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City.

The winners from southeast Missouri are Roger Wheeler of Kennett, Dr. Farrah McSpadden of Poplar Bluff, and from Fredericktown, Ruth Ann Skaggs.

"One of the greatest honors I have as Missouri's Lieutenant Governor is recognizing and honoring the service our veterans provide their families, friends, and neighbors in our great state, " said Kinder.
