SEMI carrying cows overturns on W. I-64 ramp in Jefferson Co.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A semi driver overturned his tractor-trailer filled with cows early Wednesday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver, 35-year-old Jerry Parris, was traveling along westbound Interstate 64 around 2:10 a.m. when he attempted to exit onto Route 37 in Jefferson County.

ISP reports the semi was traveling too fast when Parris tried to exit. This caused the driver's side tires to leave the outside of the curved ramp.

The semi entered into the ditch and overturned onto the driver's side.

At the time, Parris was hauling cows. ISP reports he wasn't injured in the crash.

However, ISP says Parris was charged with improper lane usage.
