BE PREPARED: First Alert forecast shows serious storms to move in mid-afternoon

It is Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Today is a First Alert Action Day. The Heartland will wake up to a dry, cool and breezy morning, but by mid-afternoon you'll want to make sure you have your weather radio out, and the KFVS12 weather app downloaded. The First Alert Weather team is tracking the potential for serious storms and powerful winds. Brian is expecting the weather situation to change rapidly as the day continues.

Making Headlines: 

Security threats: The University of Missouri said it is has increased security and is investigating online threats after days of turmoil. One social media user threatened to "shoot every black person I see."

Under investigation: Federal investigators will try to figure out what led to a deadly plane crash in Akron, Ohio. The twin engine plane carrying nine people. Authorities don't believe anyone survived. 

Coming soon: A recreation and sports complex in Jackson, Mo. will eventually grow even bigger. More than 20 acres of land will be used over the next few years to develop and improve the current site on on East Deerwood Drive.
