An Ellsinore toddler is seriously hurt after an SUV crashes into two vehicles Monday afternoon in Carter county.

It happened on Highway 60 around 4 p.m. in Ellsinore.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Matthew Maxwell, 25, of Grandin swerved the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving and hit a 2010 Dodge Charger in the neighboring lane.

The impact of the crash caused the driver of the car, 61-year-old Kristina Bowlby of Malden, to lose control of the vehicle and it flipped.

After Bowlby's car flipped, Maxwell's Blazer crossed the median, then off the left side of the road into a ditch, went into the air, and hit a parked car.

Maxwell and one of his passengers, 23-year-old Tiffany Glover of Ellsinore, were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital with moderate injures.

A second passenger in Maxwell's SUV, a two-year-old boy was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital, but was later flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.

Troopers report that Maxwell and Glover were not wearing seat belts and the toddler was not in a safety seat at the time of the crash.

Bowlby, the driver of the first car in the crash, was not hurt in the crash, but her car has extensive damage.

The parked car hit has moderate damage.
