First Alert: Cool, frosty morning to turn into sunny afternoon today

It is Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

The Heartland will wake up to a cold, clear and frosty morning. You’ll likely need an ice scraper or time to defrost your windshield. Some of the counties in southern Illinois and Kentucky might see some fog. After that, though, we’ll end up with a beautiful day, with highs in the low to mid 60s. However, get prepared now for Wednesday. It will be a FIRST ALERT Action Day with thunderstorms expected late in the day.

Making Headlines:

Standoff situation: A man is in police custody after a standoff with Scott City police early Tuesday morning. Before the suspect surrendered without incident, police rescued a woman and child from the home.

Search continues: Police in Bonne Terre are looking for a man accused of trying to abduct a teen Sunday evening. According to police, a 13 year-old boy was fishing at a lake when a stranger lunged at him.

Injury crash: One person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 60 on Monday evening. The 37-year-old was airlifted to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Black Friday UpdateTarget will open its doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, joining other big box stores like Macy's, Toys R Us and Sears that will all open on the holiday. New this year, retailers spreading their deals beyond Black Friday.
