MO man sentenced to ten years for DWI

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Steven E. Trout, 58, was sentenced to ten years for DWI on Monday.

Trout was charged with the class B felony on Aug. 18, after it was determined he was the intoxicated driver in a single vehicle crash on Missouri Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau County on Aug. 16.

Trout refused to provide a breath sample. The State then obtained a search warrant for a blood sample from Trout, which was collected soon thereafter.

Trout has had ten previous DWI convictions or guilty pleas, which were listed in the felony information that was filed.

It was later learned that Trout had two additional DWI priors, none of which occurred in Cape Girardeau County.

Trout pleaded guilty to the charge on Oct. 13.
