SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

An 18-year-old man was in critical condition after he says his friend shot him on Sunday afternoon in Sikeston.

Robert Tyler Kolwyck, 19, of Sikeston, was charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a call at 1501 E. Kathleen Sunday around noon.

An 18-year-old told officers he had been shot by his 19-year-old friend at his home.

Investigators found the friend around 1:20 p.m. at a relative's home at 207 Sharp Street in Sikeston.

The man was arrested, but police say they still have no explanation why the victim was shot.

Kolwyck was charged on Monday, Nov. 9.

According to DPS, the two were alone at the home when the shooting took place. They say a fight broke out, which led to the shooting. The victim had two to three gunshot wounds.

The victim had surgery and was on life support; however, DPS was told his condition was somewhat stable.

Kolwyck remains in custody at the Scott County Jail awaiting his arraignment.
