2.8-magnitude earthquake shakes southeast Missouri

NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) -

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of southeast Missouri Sunday evening.

Preliminary earthquake reports show the earthquake was centered three miles northwest of New Madrid, Mo and 16 miles south of Sikeston.

According to CERI at the University of Memphis, the earthquake hit around 5:46 p.m. It recorded a 2.8-magnitude on the Richter scale and registered 7 miles deep.
