MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A portion of Clinton Road in McCracken County is back open after a driver ran into a utility pole on Monday.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, 20-year-old Colby Stearns, of Calvert City, was driving northbound on Clinton Road when he swerved to miss an animal on the road.

In the process, Stearns hit a utility pole, causing it to break.

The accident happened around 3:55 a.m. near Ora Lane.

Stearns was no injured in the crash.

However, Clinton Road between Heather Lane and Goad Road will be closed for approximately four to five hours while Paducah Power Systems replaces the damaged pole.

Traffic is being rerouted through the back parking lot of the Loan Oak First Baptist Church.

The sheriff's department encourages drivers to watch their speed while they travel through the area, since preschool services will still be held at the church.
