First Alert: Expect chilly, sweater weather today ahead of mid-week storms

First Alert Weather Outlook:

The Heartland is waking up to a chilly Monday, with many of us likely seeing some frost. It will stay cool today with highs only in the 50s and low 60s. Here's your First Alert for Wednesday: The Heartland is under a 30 percent risk of severe weather. We could see tornadoes.

Making Headlines:

Action Demanded: Protests continue, football players refuse to practice, and walkouts are planned as turmoil over racially charged incidents at the University of Missouri escalates. Today, the University of Missouri Board of Curators will meet to discuss matters behind closed doors. 

Ready or not: The wait for legal medical marijuana in Illinois is nearly over. Sales are authorized to begin Monday at eight licensed dispensaries across the state, including at one in Marion.

Tragic ending: Police say a bride and groom were on their way to their reception, when the bride was killed in a motorcycle wreck as they were traveling along Route 14 in Franklin County. Authorities say the couple hit a deer.
