Burglary call leads to drug arrest in Kennett

KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

A report of a burglary lead to a drug arrest in Kennett early Sunday morning.

According to a post on the Kennett Police Department's Facebook page, officers were called to a home on the 900 block of Louis Street around 1:17 a.m. in reference to a burglary.

While investigating, officers found an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine "in plain view inside the residence," authorities stated.

31-year-old Linda Davis of Kennett was arrested and taken to the Dunklin County Justice Center.

The arresting officer then searched the police cruiser and found more methamphetamine that "apparently dropped from Davis during transport," according to police.

The Kennett Police Department said a female member of the jail staff searched Davis and recovered even more of the substance.

Police report Davis is being held at the Dunklin County jail on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges from the prosecutor.
