Ex-wife arrested, charged in murder of Hayti man

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A fifth person has been arrested in connection to an ongoing investigation into the murder of a Hayti, Missouri man in September.

Heather Cummings, 26, of Boonville, Mo., was arrested Friday night on a warrant From Pemiscot County, charging her with murder in the 1st degree.

The arrest is the result of the continuing investigation of the murder of David L. "Tray" Phelps which occurred in Hayti on September 24.

Sheriff Greenwell says Cummings is the ex-wife of Phelps.

She is being held in the Cooper County Jail with no bond.

Sheriff Tommy Greenwell says deputies from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office will return her to Pemiscot County "in the next few days."

    The person of interest in the double-murder and bank robbery in Conway on Monday is in custody. Brandon MIchael Council was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina Wednesday, along with two other people, authorities there confirmed.  Brandon Michael Council was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of two CresCom bank employees during a bank robbery at the CresCom Bank in Conway on Monday afternoon.
