Carbondale man arrested, facing burglary and resisting arrest charges

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A man from Carbondale was arrested Thursday for allegedly burglarizing a car and resisting arrest.

The City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 500 block of South University on Thursday in reference to an auto burglary complaint. 

During the investigation, officers learned the victim saw the suspect next to his vehicle, and with property that belonged to the victim. 

The suspect left the area but was found by officers. 

The suspect, Michael T. Velazquez, 18, initially ran from officers, but he was apprehended without incident a short time later. 

Velazquez was charged with burglary and resisting a peace officer.

He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation into this incident is continuing.
