This week in music: 1995

(KFVS) -

Let's take a stroll down our musical memory lane. This morning we travel back 20 years to this week in 1995.

Billboard's Hot 100 had the duo Groove Theory at number five with "Tell Me."

Seal held down the number 4 spot with "Kiss from a Rose." That song was featured in the movie Batman Forever.

Checking in at number 3 was Janet Jackson with "Runaway." That song was intended as a duet between Janet and her brother but Michael Jackson didn't want to record it.

Another movie theme was in the number 2 position. "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio was the theme song from Dangerous Minds. It was also the biggest selling single of the year.

And in the top spot was a song that debuted at number one and stayed there for eight consecutive weeks. "Fantasy" was also Mariah Carey's ninth number one hit.

That's a look at the music scene from this week 20 years ago.
