2 men arrested in connection with Herrin burglary

HERRIN, IL (KFVS) -

Two men are in custody in connection with a burglary in Herrin, Illinois.

Robert A. Weir was determined to have an arrest warrant out of Williamson County, Ill. He was also charged with burglary.

Randy L. Weir was charged with burglary, aggravated fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

At around 2:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Herrin police say they responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a property on N. Park Avenue.

When they arrived, police say one suspect, later identified as Robert Weir, was taken into custody.

They say the second suspect, later identified as Randy Weir, left the scene in a vehicle.

After a short chase, which ended near the intersection of Van Buren and 17th Streets, police say Randy Weir got out of the vehicle and tried to run. He was then caught by officers.

According to police, during a search of Weir's vehicle, they found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
