Chicago man sentenced for selling heroin in Carbondale

A Chicago man will spend 10 years in prison for selling heroin in Carbondale.

According to Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr, 26-year-old Bryson Christian pleaded guilty to a charge of Unlawful Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Carr said officers from the Carbondale Police Department Drug Task Force were investigating a trailer in the 1400 block of North Illinois Avenue in August. During the investigation, a confidential informant equipped with audio and video recording devices went inside the trailer and bought heroin from Christian.

After the sale, officers got a search warrant for the trailer where they found nearly 10 grams of heroin in Christian’s pocket. He also had a loaded 9 mm handgun, according to investigators.

After serving 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Christian will serve three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
