Carbondale looking for new police officer

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The city of Carbondale is looking for a police officer.

An exam for an entry level police officer will be given on November 19 at 8 a.m. at Carbondale's City Hall.

The test includes a written exam and a physical fitness exam on that day.

Application packets can be picked up at City Hall.

Applications must be submitted no later than November 16 at 5 p.m.

To qualify you must be a citizen of the United States; be 20 years old; have tattoos or body art that can be covered by a uniform and; have 60 semester hours in education from an accredited college or university, except for applicants who have experience as a regular, full-time police officer AND who have graduated from a law enforcement training academy accredited or approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

With your application you must also submit a $15 non-refundable application fee; a copy of your birth certificate; a copy of your children's birth certificates; a copy of your marriage license and/or divorce decree; official college transcripts; a copy of your DD-214; three letters of reference and: a clear photograph.
