SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Rural Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire Saturday morning on County Road 532.

Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien said the home is a total loss.

Crews from Scott County Rural, Miner and Sikeston Fire Departments were on scene for nearly three hours battling the blaze.

Perrien said nobody was home at the time of the fire. The owner had left to go to work and came back to let her two dogs out. It was after that when the home caught fire.

The fire started in the living room and spread throughout the rest of the house.

Perrien said two dogs perished in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
