Lomax named as new Carbondale fire chief

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Carbondale Interim City Manger Gary Williams has named the new Carbondale fire chief.

Chief Ted Lomax will officially begin his term on Monday, Nov. 9.

He began his career as a Carbondale firefighter in 1990 before being named fire inspector in 2001.

Lomax was promoted to captain in 2002 and to assistant fire chief in 2006, a position he has held for the past nine years.

He has additional leadership experience that includes being president of the Fire Pension Board and president of Local IAFF 1961. In addition to his professional service, Lomax is active in the Carbondale community and his service includes two past terms on the Giant City School Board.
