(KFVS) - Are you letting your kids trick or treat without an adult for the first time this year? Wishing there was a way to keep track of them?
Good news! There's an app for that.
Set a reminder
Keeping tabs can be as simple as setting an alarm on your child's phone. The alarm can go off periodically to remind them to call home.
Take advantage of the GPS
Family Locator: This is a free app that allows you to track your family in real time. It pulls up a map and you can see exactly what street your child might be on. It is available for Apple and Adroid devices.
Life360: A family locator, messaging tool and communication app all in one. Using the app your child can avoid annoying "where are you?" calls and just send a quick "check-in" message to let parents know where they are.
Don't forget the basics
While technology can take the spook out of your child being out alone. Law enforcement across the Heartland suggest kids are equipped for a safe and fun evening. Some tips include: making sure the kids have flashlights, travel in groups and stay on sidewalks.
