School officials in Kennett, MO investigating incident

KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - Kennett police and the school district remain tight-lipped about alleged incident at the high school.

Police say they're still investigating an alleged incident in the district.

Details are slowly being released, but we've reached out to the district superintendent who released the following statement:

"As the Kennett School District No. 39 Superintendent of Schools, I can confirm that a respective matter was brought to the attention of the school district. As a result, the appropriate steps to address the matter have been taken by the school district in accordance with applicable Missouri State Law and school district policies. Given the nature of the matter, there will be no further comment from this office."

On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 29 we were told the matter had been handed over to the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

While it's still unclear what happened, there is no ongoing threat to students or staff at this time.
