CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Vintage NOW 6 fashion show that was held in Cape Girardeau on Saturday has reportedly raised nearly $60,000 for the Safe House for Women.

Organizers say the fashion show raised $58,937, a 40% increase over last year.

Total cash sponsorships and support from 36 local businesses plus donations, ticket sales and silent auction proceeds amounted to over $100,000.

Only 13% of the donations were used to cover costs not donated, which allowed a total cash amount of $58,937 to go directly to the Safe House for Women.

"I am astounded by the community support of Vintage NOW's efforts to bring awareness to domestic violence," said Deb Maevers, Vintage NOW founder and Director.

"My initial mission was to mix fashion for a cause. Through Vintage NOW's support of the Safe House for Women, that dream has been fulfilled to help women in need."

More than 1,000 people attended the fashion show, which featured vintage fashion from the 1970s with a modern flair.

All of Vintage NOW's proceeds go to providing comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence through the work of the Safe House for Women.
