Ram spotted in Missouri hit by car, killed

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A ram that was spotted running loose in a Jefferson County, Missouri neighborhood has been hit by a car and killed..

The Missouri Highway Patrol said theram was hit and killed around 7 p.m. Wednseday.

Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer says they received reports of the animal in the Festus area.

According to social media, several people spotted the ram, but had not been able to catch it.

A spokesperson with the Missouri Department of Conservation said the animal might have escaped from a petting zoo, or private collector since the species is not native to Missouri.

The person driving the vehicle was not injured.
