KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - The Kennett Humane Department is looking for information on the person or persons responsible for leaving a sick puppy in a ditch bank.
On Monday, Nov. 2, the humane department posted on their Facebook page that the original owner of the abandoned puppy was located. They say the original owner denied that the puppy was in bad condition and denied that they are the ones that left the puppy in the ditch.
However, the humane department said the original owner came forward with a second puppy. The humane department said they insisted both puppies were sold in good medical condition and said the seven more puppies had been sold and are around the area.
Anyone with information concerning the two puppies or any others that could possibly be from the same litter, are asked to contact 1-573-888-4622.
According the department's Facebook page, the first puppy was left just a few feet outside of city limits in a ditch bank where people illegally dump their waste.
They say the puppy was left in his kennel with a few blankets. He is a few months old.
After being examined by a veterinarian, it was determined the puppy had mange and secondary infections.
The puppy's infections could have been prevented if it was provided medical care, fed properly and had a clean dry place to live, according to the Kennett Humane Department.
On Thursday, Oct. 29 the Kennett Humane Department posted on their Facebook about a young woman who saw pictures of the puppy and decided to donate some items for him while he recovers.
If you would like to donate to his care, you can mail it directly to Crowely's Ridge Veterinary Clinic, P.O. Box 284, Piggott, AR 72454, or by calling 1-870-598-5145.
You can also mail donations to the Kennett Humane Dept., 200 Cedar Street in Kennett, MO 63857.
