Driver arrested after deadly crash on Bollinger Co. Rd. 458

BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Monday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1999 Ford F250 was going eastbound on Bollinger County Road 458, 5 miles east of Marble Hill, when it ran off of the road, hit a tree and overturned. It came to a rest in the road.

The passenger, 24-year-old Jacob A. Canoy, of Marble Hill was pronounced dead at the scene by Bollinger County Coroner Charles Hutchings.

The driver, 21-year-old David A. Sturm, also of Marble Hill, was taken by troopers to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

According to the highway patrol, Sturm is facing a charge of vehicular manslaughter.

The highway patrol reports this is the 48th crash in southeast Missouri that has resulted in a fatality this year, and the fifth deadly accident in October.
