Gallatin Co. officials respond to late-night car crash

GALLATIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Two people from Illinois were shaken up after a car accident in Gallatin County on Saturday.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Clarissa L. Urchison, 18, of Shawneetown, Ill., was westbound on Davis Road, approximately ½ mile south of Raben Road at around midnight, when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

Her truck traveled off the roadway and overturned.

Urchison initially reported to not have been injured in the crash, and was later transported from the Gallatin County Courthouse to an area hospital by the Gallatin County Ambulance Service.

The passenger, Caleb M. Mills, 30, of Equality, Ill., was not injured in the crash.

The vehicle had to be towed from the crash scene.

Urchison was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

ISP District 19 was assisted by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, Shawneetown Police Department, and Gallatin County Ambulance Service.
