Moms, dads and grandparents have a new, shiny playground to take their children at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau.
The improvements that officially opened on Friday include brand new play areas and a pavilion.
The upgrades also include new trees, lights, and landscaping.
About 100 people showed up for the ribbon cutting.
The pool at the park was demolished in 2011 to make room for the improvements.
"We had this old playground unit up here and when we were walking through the park determining how best to design the improvements, it became very evident that this is the most beautiful view and wouldn't it be great to have a brand-new pavilion up here where people can enjoy sitting out in looking out over the Park," says Julia Thompson, Cape's Park and Rec Director.
The improvements were paid for with the Parks and Stormwater tax passed by voters a few years ago.
This is only phase one of the Capaha Park facelift - there are also plans to install a splash pad and newer restrooms.
