Cape Girardeau police warn of Publishers Clearinghouse scam

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is warning folks about a Publishers Clearing House scam making rounds in the community.

A man told police that he is a UPS driver and has $950,000 from Publishers Clearing House.

The suspect told the man that before he could deliver the award, he would have to call his manager. He provided a phone and claim numbers.

When you call the number back you are asked several personal questions including how much you make.

If you don't call them back right away, you will receive another call. The suspect has a very thick accent and will be upset that you hadn't called his manager.

Police say the phone numbers to watch out for on your caller ID are: 876-460-3519 and 876-807-2148.

Anyone with questions can call Cape Girardeau police at 573-335-6621 Ext #1148.
