Southeast MO State finding ways to deal with skunk problems

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Southeast Missouri State University is dealing with a smelly situation from an unwanted guest.

Southeast's facility management says they have caught a family of about six skunks that normally come out at night.

No one has been sprayed before, not even the guy who catches the skunks.

We talked to Katheryn Goessing and Megan Jerger. They’ve seen the skunk before and say it frightens them at times.

“We scared to walk past it though because we don’t want to get sprayed. For the most part he just walks around and look at you. It’s always at night though, I never see him during the day. People see him all the time, but he doesn’t spray anyone he just moseys around I guess for his own pleasure.”

Students said they haven’t seen the skunk in a while, but they hope he’s doing okay.

Students have named it the Greek Hill Skunk.
