MURRAY, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky State Police arrested a woman in connection with a fraud case after a family never received money to help a woman involved in a serious accident.

Takisha "Kiki" S. Brown, 24, of Murray, was charged with theft by deception under $500.

She was taken to the Calloway County Jail.

Trooper Jody Cash said Lexus Benton was involved in a traffic crash in Murray, Ky. on June 1, 2015. She later died from her injuries.

Before Benton's death, a "Go Fund Me" account was set up to raise money to help pay for the medical bills.

T-shirts were also made and sold as a way to raise money.

KSP reports all of that money was supposed to be given to the family of Benton.

However, Cash said a preliminary investigation showed the money was not given to the family.

If you donated to this cause through the "Go Fund Me" account, bought a t-shirt or gave money another way, please contact Trooper Jody Cash by email at jody.cash@ky.gov or by calling KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721.
