CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Representatives from the New York-based Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation made a visit to Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, October 21.
They were there to recognize Eugene Holloway, Jr. and Holloway Carpet One for their generous support of the Foundation's Building for America's Bravest program.
In recognition of that support, members of the Fire Department of New York City, acting on their own behalf, presented a specially designed shadow box containing hallowed 9/11 steel from Ground Zero to Eugene Holloway Jr.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is named in honor of FDNY, 9/11, fallen Firefighter Stephen Siller, and is best known for it's annual Tunnel to Towers Run at Ground Zero in New York City.
The organization is committed to building specially adapted "smart homes" for the most seriously wounded U.S. service men and women through it's Building for America's Bravest program.
Holloway Carpet One and it's manufacturing partnership with Mohawk Group have committed to providing flooring materials and installation for 46 of these "smart homes."
Holloway Carpet One's goal is to collect a donation of ten dollars, or more from each customer, to ultimately enable the construction of at least two more "smart homes."
