(KFVS) - Due to extremely dry and windy conditions, several burn bans have been issued for parts of the Heartland.
As of Wednesday, Oct. 21, burn bans include:
Open burning within the City of Charleston has been prohibited.
According to Richard Knaup, Jr, director/coordinator for the Cape Girardeau County Emergency Management, a No Burn Advisory was issued by the County Commission. All county residents are encouraged to postpone open outdoor burning until the fire danger decreases. If you are driving or working outdoors, the commission says to be careful where you discard smoking materials. The grass along the highways is very dry and could easily ignite. The commission also says campers and hunters should use extra caution. Knaup said the advisory will stand until they receive enough precipitation.
The Horseshoe Lake Fire Protection District fire chief issued a burn ban for the district. Click here for more information.
