CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Southern Illinois University Department of Public Safety has released its report from the 9th annual "Unofficial Halloween."
According to DPS, during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Oct. 19, they issued five Carbondale city ordinance citations to SIU students for underage consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages, which is down from 23 arrests in 2014.
Officers say there were three arrests for fighting in which two students and one non-student were cited.
SIU police say they issued another three citations for possession of cannabis to SIU students, which is down from five arrests in 2014.
According to police, one SIU student was arrested for aggravated battery and aggravated assault. They say the victim in the case received medical treatment at the emergency room and was released.
Police say they also responded to a fight in a parking lot where four non-students were arrested.
Three of those arrested were charged with ordinance violations for resisting a police officer. The fourth person was charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting a police officer and was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
At the "Unofficial Halloween" event in 2014, broken glass and trash sprinkled the streets and a car was flipped.
