Trash fire gets out of control in Cape Girardeau Co.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Volunteer firefighters spent Tuesday afternoon fighting a field fire in Cape Girardeau County after some burning trash got out of hand.

Firefighters from Millersville, Whitewater, and Gordonville were called to County Road 371 near Burfordville for the fire.

Millersville Fire Chief Rodney Hurst says a woman was burning trash when it got out of control.

The fire burned three acres of grass and woods. It also damaged a shed.

At once point, firefighters were worried about four other nearby structures, but they were able to get the fire under control.

No one was injured.
