PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. The Regional Family Crisis Center is sponsoring a community event on October 17 to help make people more aware of the problem.
"The Clothesline Project" will happen at the gazebo at Perryville's square beginning at 3 p.m.
People are asked to design a t-shirt with a message that helps bring awareness to domestic violence.
The t-shirts will be displayed on a clothesline on the square. You can take one already completed and hang it, or design one when you arrive.
At 5 p.m. more than 100 purple balloons will be released in remembrance of domestic violence victims. There will be guest speakers, including some who will talk about how domestic violence has affected their lives.
The program will conclude with a candle light vigil showing support for victims.
