CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The City of Cape Girardeau will host a ribbon cutting for the new Capaha park pavilion and playground.
The ribbon cutting is set for Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m.
The new additions to the park replace an old playground and the Capaha Pool that was demolished in 2011.
The project is considered Phase 1 of 6 from the Capaha Park Master plan that was launched in 2014.
Phase 1 also includes improved pedestrian access, sidewalks, benches, fountains and landscaping.
The improvements were funded through the Parks, Recreation, and Stormwater Tax that was passed in 2008.
Assuming the money is available, future plans for the park include new restrooms, a splash pad, stormwater and drainage renovations, and ball field enhancements.
