Medline acetaminophen tablets recalled

(KFVS) -

Medline Industries issued a nationwide recall of acetaminophen tablets because they could be labeled with the incorrect strength.

The products included in the recall are bottles of Medline acetaminophen tablets labeled 325 mg, 100 pills per bottle.

According to Medline, 500-mg acetaminophen tablets were found mislabeled as 325 mg tablets.

The Food and Drug Administration says the recalled medication has Medline Item Number OTC20101 and includes lot# 45810.

The product's expiration date is May 2018.

This lot was distributed nationwide from June 12, 2015 through September 18, 2015.

According to the company, this error is not easily identifiable by the user or prescriber.

The concern is that if the product is taken at the maximum labeled dose, it may lead to liver toxicity or liver failure.
