Students participate in Junior Achievement program

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Southeast Missouri State University student athletes, and students at some Heartland schools, had a chance to interact and learn on Thursday, Oct. 15.

The program is called Junior Achievement.

The idea is to make sure that the students learn basic economics and find practical uses for what they learn in the classroom.

"The student enjoys someone else coming in besides their teacher because there is somebody in the community that is taking their time and they get to hear different stories and interact with different people. The students like to get something that's kind of a break from school, but they are learning when they don't even realize they're learning," Junior Achievement District Manager Becki Arends said.

The program is already in schools from Ste. Genevieve to Scott County.

Volunteers bring their experience from all walks of life.
