Heartland Cooks - White Chocolate Popcorn Pink Up

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and everything is pink – including this week’s recipe. Heartland Cook Cheryl Reinagel of Kelso, Missouri shares her recipe for White Chocolate Popcorn Pink Up. It’s a treat that’s both sweet and salty. Cheryl’s pink popcorn is very easy to make, but is sure to bring both big smiles and awareness to the Pink Up cause.

Ingredients:

  • Popcorn (unpopped)
  • Oil
  • Vanilla Almond Bark
  • Red gel food coloring (Cheryl uses Wilton brand)
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

Melt the almond bark according to directions on the package. Mix in a small amount of red gel food coloring until your white chocolate reaches the desired color.

In a large pot over medium-high heat, cover the bottom of the pot with oil and add the popcorn. When popcorn begins to pop, shake the pot back and forth over the burner to prevent sticking.

Listen for the popping to slow down and then immediately remove pot from heat and pour popcorn out onto a clean counter top.  Sprinkle popcorn with salt to taste.

Drizzle melted pink almond bark over the pile of popcorn and toss with a fork to coat.

Allow chocolate to cool and harden and then package in gift bags or enjoy!
