John A. Logan College accepts resignation of president, names interim president

The John A. Logan College Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of President Mike Dreith on Wednesday evening, Oct. 14.

The board held a special meeting and voted 5-2 to accept the resignation.

Voting in favor of the resignation were trustees Bill Alstat, Bill Kilquist, Cheryl Graff, Jake Rendleman and Chairman Don Brewer.

Voting not to accept the resignation were trustees Ray and Jackie Hancock, along with student trustee Brandi Husch. Although Husch's vote is a non-binding advisory vote.

The terms of the resignation were not disclosed.

According to JALC, both Dreith and the board agreed it was in each party's interest to accept the resignation, allowing Dreith to pursue other professional opportunities.

Dreith served as president of JALC for three years, beginning in 2012.

The board then voted by the same 5-2 count to hire Dr. Ron House of Benton as the interim president.

From 2010-2014 House served as director of land management with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, including time as executive director of the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Ill.
