Carbondale police investigating auto burglary

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Carbondale Police Department is investigating a complaint of an auto burglary on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Stephen L. Moultrie, 19, is facing a charge of burglary to auto.

Police say at around 1:05 a.m. they responded to the 400 block of East Hester St. for a complaint of a potential auto burglary in progress.

When they arrived,  police say two of the four suspects ran but were later caught with the help of the SIU Police Department.

Three of the suspects were identified as juveniles.

The other suspect was identified as Moultrie.

According to police, the suspects were in possession of stolen property.

Moultrie was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail. The three juveniles were released to their guardians.

The investigation is ongoing.
